Impressionists in London
Thursday 23 November 2017

Don’t miss the Tate’s first major exhibition to give a glimpse of 19th-century London witnessed by those French Impressionists who sought refuge in Britain as a result of the Franco-Prussian war. The exhibition will include more than 100 works by Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley, Auguste Rodin, Andre Derain, Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux and James Tissot. Paintings have been loaned from across Europe and the USA, some being shown in the UK for the first time. One of the exciting aspects of the exhibition will be to see how differently the French represented aspects of British landscape, especially London’s atmospheric fog, which had been ignored by British artists.

Tickets are £37.00 for the full visit, including concessionary tickets for the exhibition. Coach-only tickets are also available at £22.00. There are no additional charges for viewing Tate Britain’s permanent collection, including the spectacular Clore Gallery, home to the largest collection of works by Joseph Mallord William Turner. Restaurants and coffee shops are available on site.
