The society meets in the centre of the historic Dorset town of Wimborne on the third Monday afternoon of the month (except in August and September) at the Allendale Centre in Wimborne at 2.15pm. Tea is served after the lecture.
The Centre is fortunate to have plenty of ‘pay and display’ parking adjacent to it and is well served by local bus routes. Our current membership is in excess of 200 and as our hall is large we can accommodate new members. We are always pleased to welcome visitors to our lectures for a small fee.
Our current programme is shown under the ‘Lectures’ heading from which you will see that we have an interesting and varied selection of speakers all of whom are drawn from the NADFAS Directory. Over the years we have enjoyed many excellent lectures on a huge variety of relevant topics.
We are an active and forward looking society having recently gained charitable status and invested in new technology to ensure our speakers have the finest equipment. We enjoy outings to Art Galleries, Museums and Historic Houses along with Study days. Our Heritage Volunteer group work closely with the Fashion Museum in Blandford Forum and our Young Arts section encourages youngsters to participate in local projects.
By popular demand we are increasing our social activities to include an annual lunch and we recently held a successful bridge afternoon with a variety of other events being considered.
